Following the decision by Labour’s National Constitutional Committee not to expel Ken Livingstone, here is a draft motion for you to submit to your CLP. Branch meetings are usually at the end of the month.

Not in my name

XXX branch believes that XXX CLP should condemn the recent decision by Labour’s National Constitutional Committee not to expel Ken Livingstone, despite finding him guilty on all counts of bringing the Party into disrepute. We believe that decision is a betrayal of our Party’s fundamental anti-racist values, and a betrayal of the Jewish communities Labour should be seeking to represent.

Ken Livingstone has wilfully misconstrued history to suit his agenda and to cause maximum offence and upset to the UK Jewish community and Holocaust survivors.

His comments have emboldened the far right and Holocaust deniers, and brought shame on our Party. XXX CLP stands united with the Jewish Labour Movement and colleagues across the Party in making it clear that we will not allow Labour to become a home for antisemitism and Holocaust revisionism.

This decision was not taken in our name, and we call on party members to stand in solidarity with the Jewish Labour Movement and the wider Jewish community and electorate.
